Understanding Women's Sexuality
A woman's sexuality encompasses a complex range of processes with a profound impact on emotional and physical well-being. Dr. Mel is committed to educating, informing, and empowering all women about their sexuality, recognizing its role as the gateway to overall health.
Challenges in Sexual Health
While significant gains have been made in healthcare regarding pregnancy and cancer outcomes, sexual health issues are frequently overlooked and mismanaged. Dr. Mel aims to bridge this gap and address the complexities of women's sexual health.
Navigating Hormone Imbalances Across Ages
Women of all ages can suffer from hormone imbalances. Hormones fluctuate throughout a woman’s lifespan, and it's crucial for all women to understand that declining hormones and menopause are realities that will span 30-40% of their lifespan. Menopause is not just a temporary state or symptom; it's a physiological change where a woman will no longer produce hormones essential to maintaining her quality of life and health.

WOMEN Q&A:
This is based on the Care Plan and treatment therapy you choose. This can range from once-weekly injections in the clinic to every 3-4 months for an in-office procedure or a phone call every 3-4 months. Dr. Mel will discuss your options, so you can make an informed decision on which treatment plan will best fit your needs.
Depending on the therapy option chosen, Dr. Mel requires an evaluation of lab work and an assessment and evaluation of lab results every 3-6 months, either in the office or by phone, depending on the treatment option you choose. The cost of the evaluation and lab results reviewed is factored into your Care Plan. Dr. Mel closely monitors her patients to ensure they are safely and effectively receiving the therapy that is right for them.
We will send you for a blood test to evaluate your hormone levels and make sure there are no other underlying issues. She will then see you in the office to perform an assessment to formulate the best course of treatment options to fit your needs.

Many of the medication options are FDA-approved and commercially available. However, for women, many of the medications must also be compounded and made fresh at a 503A pharmacy. These pharmacies operate pursuant to standards set by the United States Pharmacopeia and customize medications in small batches that are patient-specific and designated by the FDA for home use.
Testosterone pellets are made at a 503B Outsourcing Facility and, pursuant to the same Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations as pharmaceutical manufacturers that manufacture FDA-approved, commercially available medications, and distribution is monitored by the FDA.
Dr. Mel does not accept insurance, but if you are a non-Medicare patient, you can submit a claim to your own insurance company for reimbursement purposes. Your lab work and some forms of hormone therapy may be covered by your health insurance. Check with your individual health plan for coverage details. We do accept HAS (health savings account) cards for all treatments and services.
